Our Rising Oaks
Courage and Determination
In Year 2 our children have lots of courage and determination. We begin the morning at 8.30am with a quick activity and dive straight into our phonics groups. We are very good at reading. After our brain break we separate into small groups to work on our maths and literacy. The Rising Oak's classroom i in the Victorian part of our school and our classroom used to be a Mortuary Chapel. It is a lovely classroom to work in together.
Topic work, science, music and PE are normally in the afternoons. We cover a range of exciting topics from Holidays, Toys, Celebrations and Habitats to name a few.
Class room helpers have various jobs to do in order to make the day run smoothly. A class cup is awarded everyday for good work, helpfulness or kindness and the star of the week is awarded in the Monday morning assembly. Merit marks are given for the same reasons as the class cup.
For Year 2 the day starts at 8.45 and finishes as 3pm.
