Braywood International
At Braywood, we are expanding our international reach and focus. It is really important that children develop a global perspective and expansive worldview. We aim to achieve this in the following ways:
· Sponsorship of a child through Compassion UK. We will be sponsoring a child in Haiti. Children can be involved through fundraising events in school, bringing in spare change and this money will be collected at the end of every half term.
· Global focused Collective Worship. On occasion, throughout the year, we will have assemblies with a global theme.
· Global focused Family Assembly. Once a year, we will have a global focused Family Assembly. Classes will focus on a nation of the world.
· English units with a global focus. We are developing the curriculum to have a global element. Each class will be taught a globally focused model text and produce work based upon this. There will be a fiction and non-fictional element. These English units will be based upon the Talk for Writing method, pioneered by Pie Corbett.
· International Day. We will endeavour to have an International Day which celebrates the culture, food, dress and music of different nations throughout the world.
