Mrs Calvert's Weekly Message

Dear Parents

We are all really enjoying these last few days at school especially the Christmas Party lunch. The school has a very festive feel!

Just a few quick reminders for this week.

Today the children will have watched a magical elf talk to them and she has given them all a book to take home. Tomorrow the children will be watching the pantomime 'Cinderella' and on Wednesday they will be bringing home their Christmas Party Bag.

School will close on Friday between 1.30pm and 2pm for most of the school. The little acorns without siblings can collect their child at 1pm.

Attached is a document from All Saints Church, Dedworth which has a link with a live Christingle service streaming at 5pm on Christmas Eve. Everyone here has had a Christingle service and lit their Christingles.

Revd Ainsley has sent us the second Advent of his messages below.

If you are interested in watching the Windsor Festival, Mr Denny has kindly sent us a link to the full performance at https://youtu.be/xjs6ThCJq9A

Sally and the PTA have done a fantastic job in these difficult circumstances. They raised approximately £150 on the Parentkind raffle and almost £400 selling the Christmas trees and Christmas Card merchandise. Please remember Easy Fundraising and Amazon Smile when you are ordering.

The booster 'wake up' clubs have gone very well this term and will be continuing next term from the wc 11th January. The children paying for childcare will also be returning at the same time. These 'catch up' groups are partly funded by the Government to ensure that no child should suffer academically through this pandemic.

Next term the teachers will be starting their own additional booster classes at the end of the day. There will not be a huge amount of disruption, but it will mean that all classes will finish on time (e.g. Foundation and Y1 at 3pm and Year 2, 3 and 4 at 3.15pm). Staff will wait 10 minutes after this time to ensure that we do not all arrive at the same time.

The LEA are very keen that all parents collect their child and leave the school site as soon as possible. With this in mind, in January all siblings will be sent out together and although parents may drop their child off in the mornings at different entrances, all siblings will be coming out at the end of the school day at the same time. There will be more specific details to follow. The borough are sending out community wardens after Christmas to school sites.

Do call the school if you have any concerns.

Kind regards

Susan Calvert
