Mrs Calvert's Message

7th October 2021

Dear Parents,

I hope that you are all well.

As it is the census on Thursday 7th October, we are having fish and chips for lunch this Thursday and beef burger on Friday. We would request as many children as possible have a school meal on this day as our funding depends upon meal uptake.

In addition to my last message regarding Covid 19 school procedures, attached is a PHE flow chart to help you decide whether your child should be in school or not.

If you feel that you may be entitled to a free school meal, then do please talk to the office in confidence. There are a range of criteria which can be found on the attached sheet, together with a link to the website to make a claim for free school meals

Thank you to all the parents who have changed their behaviour and have stopped parking on the double yellow lines. Parking here not only causes congestion and frustration to other road uses; it has a detrimental effect on our reputation as a school. If you have a blue badge do come and talk to the school office regarding how we can help. Please also be mindful that our entrances need to be kept clear at all times because of pedestrians.

We are busy working on plans to add Colour after Covid to the school and are inviting parents into school to help us plant trees, shrubs and bulbs. We want to also participate in the 'plant a tree for the jubilee' so the date of Friday 15th October has been cancelled until we have the delivery of these small trees. More information to follow.

The Governors have asked to resend the parental contribution letter. This is also attached.

The parent and teacher association are holding their AGM on Thursday 21st October at 6.30pm. It will be online, and a link will be following nearer that date. We do have an urgent need for a Chair, Secretary and Treasurer so if you have any time to spare to help us, we will be very grateful. There are no plans for the established PTA to resign so there would be lots of support available. If we do not get this support, then this meeting may be postponed.

Please remember that your child will need a clear pencil case in school. Any pencil cases that do not fit this description will be sent home at half term. Children should also not be bringing toys, sweets or fitbits into school. Alongside the pen licence, children in Year 4 who can tell the time can wear a watch in school. Children can also start to wear their winter uniform a little earlier than usual as the weather is now quite cold.

On a final note, we are planning to start a nursery for children aged 3-4 years old at Braywood. This will be a private nursery with a daily cost of between £50 - £60 and would be for 16 children. This could start as soon as Easter, so if you are at all interested could you give the school a call.

We break for half term on Friday 22nd October and will return back to school on Monday 1st November. This link is to our term dates on our website. Please do not use the RBWM website as it won't have listed the additional in-service dates that are chosen at a school's discretion. When we come back after half term there will be the opportunity to talk to your class teacher (online) about your child's progress. More information/links to follow.

Do not hesitate to call the school if you have any questions especially regarding Covid.

Kind regards

Susan Calvert
