Mrs Calvert's Message

Dear Parents,

I hope that you all had a lovely summer break. I thought I would just write with a few reminders.

We open at 8.45am on Monday 6th September. Covid guidance has changed, and parents will be welcomed inside the school. Year 1 and Foundation children will be entering through the Foundation Stage gate and parents can walk into the 'secret garden' to settle their child into school. Year 2, 3 and 4 children will line up as usual when the school bell rings.

At the end of the day Year 3 and 4 finish at 3.15pm and the rest of the school will be dismissed at 3pm. Again, we will be expecting parents to come into the playground and your child will be called from the classroom when you arrive.

Braywood Extra (Squirrel Club, Early Birds and Kiss and Drop) all start on the first morning back to school, as does our new 'Grab & Go'. Children who are dismissed from 3pm can now be collected from the Church House entrance between 3-3.30pm and children who finish at 3.15 can use 'Grab and Go' and be collected between 3.15-3.45pm.  You will need to ring the school and book your child into this provision. At present the Squirrel Club will only be running until 4.15pm on Fridays as we do not have the numbers to generate the income for two members of staff. We are having an exciting Football Club running on a Friday to help mitigate this situation. There will be more information about clubs in my next email.

During the first week back, we have some Forest School trips planned for the new classes. This is a great way to start the year and will help the children work together as a team. Everyone wears their school PE uniform and will need a packed lunch and a drink with the exception of Longridge where they can wear casual clothes and will need a mask. Miss Povey has sent a message. Children will need to be dropped off at 9am and picked up at 2.45am (again with the exception of Longridge). We are unable to transport any children to and from these venues. due to Covid but we do plan to start using coaches from October/November. Anyone with siblings there is flexibility in the timings and staff will remain on the entrances for latecomers.

Year 1      Thursday 9th September at Braywick Nature Reserve

Year 2      Wednesday 8th September at Braywick Nature Reserve

Year 3      Tuesday 7th September at Braywick Nature Reserve

Year 4      Monday 6th September at Longridge in Marlow

At the start of a new year, most children have a new school uniform which can be purchased from www.schooldaysdirect.co.uk Their email is info@schooldaysdirect.co.uk Water bottles can also be purchased from this site. Year 1, 2, 3 and 4 can continue to bring in a pencil case. They can bring in pencils, pencil crayons, pritt stick, ruler, rubber etc which needs to be in a clear plastic pencil case that can fit inside the children's drawers.

When we come back to school, please continue to wear PE kits every Fridays up until Christmas. Contrary to what was said in my last email, children can bring their own water bottles into school full of fresh water every day.

We are also hosting class meetings during the first week to answer and questions parents have and to give an overview of the year ahead. There may be a 20-30-minute chat with your class teacher on...

Monday 6th September for Foundation once your child is settled into school,

Tuesday 7th September at 8.45/9am for Year 1 and 2

and Wednesday 8th September at 8.45/9am for Year 3 and 4 (please note slight change in timings)

We are all looking forward to seeing you soon

Kind Regards

Susan Calvert
