Mrs Calvert's Weekly Message

16th June 2021

Dear Parents,

As promised, this email should tell you more about our plans for the last few weeks of school. As you can imagine there has been a lot of discussion regarding the best way, we can keep everyone as safe as possible.

I hope that the Year 1 parents liked their 'Treasure' books. There will be an opportunity for our present 'Little Acorns' classroom to collect their books from Mrs Teeder on the last few days of school. Specific details will be outlined in Mrs Teeder's email.

The new children are visiting our school on Friday 2nd July from 9.30-1pm and will be staying on the field in an Early Years outdoor classroom. I am asking that any siblings who are starting at Braywood in September come for their induction session on Friday 9th July from 9.30-1pm so that they can form a separate bubble who can spend some time inside the classroom. Again, there will be a separate email outlining these arrangements to follow.

All children will be able to watch our summer productions 'Robin Hood' on Wednesday 30th June or Thursday 1st July where we can celebrate all of our older children's efforts. I can hear the rehearsals from my room, and they sound wonderful. The Y4 parents will have the opportunity to watch this performance on either the 5th, 6th 7th and possibly the 8th July organised through Track and Trace. The weather is not in our favour at the moment!

Parents will be given their child's report during the last few days of term. If any parents have any additional questions, there will be an opportunity to speak to your child's teacher for 5 minutes on Wednesday 14th July from 1pm to 3pm. You do not have to attend but If you want to take advantage of this please book through the usual eschools platform. It will be open from Monday 5th July until Tuesday 13th July for your convenience.

All of the children will have the opportunity to meet their next teacher and see their new classroom on Friday 2nd July. There are very few changes this year - Mrs Teeder remains in our Early Years setting; Miss Sebire is our new teacher in Year 1; Mrs Kilner is still the teacher in Year 2; Mrs Rexworthy and Mrs Walker are a job share in Year 3 and Miss Povey remains as the teacher in our Year 4. Sadly, Mrs Heather Fussey retires after 23 dedicated and loyal service as a HLTA and an ELSA. Just recently she has worked wonders with our SEN pupils. Also, Becca Biddle is leaving our school after 10 years of wonderful service. She has worked across the whole school as a learning support assistant and has made a wonderful contribution towards a more sustainable Braywood through our Eco Club.

As Covid regulations have not changed and cases are rising we unfortunately are unable to engage with our parents as we would usually do in the summer term. Rest assured we will be doing all the usual end of term activities with the children such as year group sports events, Y4 running the school etc. Although we do not know what the situation will be like in September, we do envisage parents being back on site and we are looking at ways to include our families in as many of our usual enterprises as soon as possible.

Could the Y4 parents ensure that they are up-to-date with their lunch payments. This can be viewed through eschools.

As always if you have concerns do please email the school.

Kind regards

Susan Calvert
