Dear Parents

The children really enjoyed Literacy Day and I hope that you have all spent your £1 book voucher. It is always great fun to see the children dressed in their different costumes. We had a parade in the afternoon and each class has shown me their poems. Our Science Day was last Thursday where the whole school was busy building inventions. Thank you to the parents who spoke about innovation in their jobs.

School closes on Thursday 1st April with a staggered pick up from 1pm. Staff have worked so hard this term we will be having a congratulatory lunch from 1.30pm and would appreciate all pupils being collected by 1.30-1.45pm. We are back on Monday 19th April. Again, to avoid confusion the first week back we will be continuing the same timings. Our booster classes will be starting on Monday 26th April and your class teacher will inform you if your child would like to participate. Please remember that if you are interested in Braywood Extra that you need to inform the school.

As we gradually open the borough are encouraging parents to maintain the principles of lockdown e.g. no playdates, keeping distance when picking up etc. Below is the latest guidance from the Government what parents need to know about early years providers, schools and colleges during COVID-19.

To help with this process parents can acquire home tests as they are in regular contact with children. This is an excerpt from the LEA website.

We’re launching our COVID-19 home testing scheme for people with regular contact with children (up to and including college-aged young people), on Monday 22 March. The Community Collect testing scheme is encouraging anyone living with children or who is in a childcare bubble or support bubble with children, or those who are involved in related occupations, to carry out a COVID-19 test twice a week from home. Anyone aged 18 or over who is eligible can book a free COVID-19 lateral flow test at one of the council’s community testing sites at Braywick and Windsor Leisure Centres, and then collect their home test kits afterwards.

Testing is voluntary, but strongly recommended to all who are eligible. Alongside the vaccine, washing hands, wearing face coverings, and maintaining social distancing, rapid testing plays a vital role in reducing transmission rates. Getting into the habit of regular testing as part of our everyday lives will help us all to play our part and do what we can to protect each other. You'll be able to collect a maximum of two kits, containing seven tests each, per household.

Please remember all parents who contract Covid over the Easter holidays still need to contact the school. Let's hope there are no emails then!

Find out more about home testing and how to book online.

There is a poster attached for an Easter activity in our local community and we are holding our own Easter events in school. Please check out the Braywood PTA page on Facebook.

On a final note, our email address has changed from April 1st to office@braywoodfirstschool.co.uk.

Kind regards

Susan Calvert
