Mrs Calvert's Weekly Message

Dear Parents,

Braywood closes on Friday 23rd October at 2pm. The children will be ready from 1.45 to 2.15pm so that parents are not all arriving in school at the same time. Please remember that when we come back after half term your child needs to be in their winter uniform with a coat or a fleece.

Below is a link to a story from Revd Ainsley for Harvest.

There is a harvest presentation attached at the bottom of this email which has songs, poems and recitals from the whole school. Please remember that this electronic imovie is not for general circulation or to be put on social media.

In addition, the PTA have provided a bag of Halloween treats, games and a 'mini pumpkin' to decorate whilst you are celebrating this festival over half term.

As half term approaches, we are asking all of our parents to help advertise our school by word of mouth including an open morning for prospective parents on Monday 23rd October from 10am. We have to keep our pupil numbers healthy to maintain our high staff ratio.

Radio Berkshire are making a giant poppy mosaic to mark this year’s Remembrance Day. If parents would like to take a photograph of the family holding up a piece of paper with the name of whoever they’re remembering e.g. a family member who served in one of the World Wars, a friend who’s serving now, or someone they know about such as Captain Tom. If you want to participate please email your pictures to the office.

To maintain the timetable in classroom bubbles involves a higher workload for all our staff, especially the teachers. To help ensure that they have an 9-hour day, please email within these hours and not at the weekends nor through half term. Thank you to all the Foundation parents who are now picking up at the main entrance. It has really helped. After half term we will be dismissing the children from 3pm. The teacher will be outside ten minutes before this time and then available for when the older children come out of school. Please do not arrive before this time because we are trying to prevent cars unnecessarily parking on the road for any length of time.

Some children have received their certificates and prizes for supporting Sports for School alongside the athlete Luke Delahunty. We received a massive amount of PE equipment for the school including fabric balls, dice, target and football nets, hoops/bean bags and Sports kits. We also raised £132.73 for the charity Young Minds.

Please could all parents of Year 3 and 4 please ensure that lunch money payments are made regularly so that amounts owing do not exceed £30 at any time. Please note that childcare vouchers cannot be used for paying for school lunches, but they can be used for a variety of other ways. Call Fiona on Mondays and Tuesdays if you would like more information on this matter.

Thank you to all the parents who brought in bags to recycle. We raised £360.00. Our PTA are working hard to generate some Christmas Cards and Christmas trees for you to have for December so if you would like to buy some do email Sally at braywoodPTA@rbwm.org.uk.

If your child is part of an Early Morning Club then they need to be at the usual entrance that you pick and drop off your child at 8am. We do not have enough staff to have someone posted at both entrances for more than 5 minutes so if you are late you will have to come to the main entrance.  Please do not drop your child off if there is no member of staff there especially at the Church House as they will not be able to get into the building because the gate will be locked.

We all hope that you have a lovely, safe half term and look forward to seeing you again on Monday 2nd November.

Kind regards Susan Calvert
